Connemara Bog Week, 24th May- 3rd June, 2013

CBW13A warm and heartfelt welcome to the 29th Conamara Bog Week Festival. It is as always a space for expression for the whole community. The variety of events that are on the programme will excite, entrance, and involve hundreds of people in making fun.

This year’s programme will have some familiar faces like Johnny Connolly, Marie Walsh, The Kane Sisters and Marcus Hernon and some old friends back after some time Paul O’Driscoll, Declan Corey, Tommy Carew and newcomers such as the highly acclaimed London based box player John Bowe and young singer songwriters Sabrina Dinan and Ultan Conlon.

A big part of our festival is the lovely natural mixing of ages. Our official opening with its mix of young musicians and ‘senior’ players sets the scene for a natural inter-generational mix which in many ways is unique to our country and particularly evident in Conamara. This mix remains a cornerstone of our festival. In essence Conamara Bog Week provides a space to nourish ourselves and to give vent to this generous creative force that is so much part of Conamara. We invite you all to join us.

Thanks to all who support Conamara Bog Week – FORUM, The Leader Programme, Connemara West, Connemara Community Radio, Galway County Council, The Arts Council, GMIT, Rogan’s Gala, Clifden Chamber of Commerce, Kylemore Abbey, Renvyle House Hotel, Molly’s Bar, The Bards Den and the myriad of individuals who put their shoulder to the wheel.
